This sustainable packaging design was made for a fictional feminine hygiene product brand, Flourish. The target audience is any individuals who menstruate that want to use eco-friendly products. The brand would produce applicator free 100% organic cotton tampons and reusable applicators made out of Mediprene which contains natural antibacterial sterilizers.
The most fun quality of the packaging is that it can be used as a planter!
Why You Should Choose Flourish
Flourish’s tampon packaging is a 100% recycled tuck box that is made from 97% post-consumer waste content which makes it biodegradable and 100% recyclable. The dimensions of the box are 4.5 inches in length, 6 inches in height, and 2.75 inches in width. The material of the box is lightweight but has great strength so that it can keep its structure. The inside of the boxes is coated with an environmentally friendly waterproof coating made out of lignin which is a completely natural water repellant. This is so the box can withstand wet soil in it once it is turned into a planter. Now for the tampons, they are individually wrapped in compostable paper that is embedded with flower seeds. The reason why the paper is embedded with flower seeds is so that consumers can keep the papers tucked in the box and after they have gone through the whole box they can turn it into a planter. Lastly, all of the inks used on the packaging are biodegradable inks made from natural vegetable oils (sunseed and soya oil).
